About Us

I became a stay-at-home mom with our first son, Scott, in 1992 after my husband I both quit our jobs and moved to nearby Lebanon, Missouri to take over a water-well pump business. I remember getting an advertisement for a quilting magazine and falling in love with a quilt that was pictured called Aunt Sukey's Choice. My dad had bought me a sewing machine in college (thinking I would love to do mending, I think) so I decided I would make that quilt. I sat and drew out the design and pretty much guessed at the yardage I would need and set off to purchase my fabric and get started. What started was a passion for quilting! I learned to enjoy the quiltmaking process; picking out the fabric, learning new techniques from quilting shows on TV and magazines and getting involved with other quilters in our town that were always willing and eager to teach a new quilter a thing or two.

Our pump business was going pretty well, so I ventured to begin my own business by opening a quilt shop, called Quiltmakers, in 1997. I loved every minute of owning and operating Quiltmakers, from stocking the shelves, to making the samples, writing the newsletter, and especially teaching others how to become quilters!

I made the decision to close Quiltmakers in 2000 for many reasons, the most important one being to bring our family closer. My two sons, Scott, who is now 15 and Jeffery, who is 10, are busy with their school and extra-curricular activites and by staying home I don't miss out on much of what they are doing! I am blessed to be able to continue my passion for quilting by designing quilt patterns through my home-based business, Good Intentions, teach at local quilt shops and present workshops for area quilt guilds from time-to-time.
